An Overnight Stay at the MacDonald Inchyra

We recently spent the night at the MacDonald Inchyra Hotel near Falkirk, just a stones throw from Edinburgh. I have visited before but never stayed, so was excited to see behind the scenes of this stunning well-renowned hotel.

We arrived around 3pm with the sun shining. Following a quick visit to the spa and pool which, although busy, was incredibly relaxing, we made our way to the main restaurant to find there was still a huge variety of food on offer.

Phil, with eyes bigger than his belly, went for the cheesiest Macaroni Cheese and wolfed it down. Made with Isle of Mull Cheddar, we knew it would be good.

After a wee wander round the hotel, of which the interior is stunning, we made our way to our newly refurbished room on the second floor. The corridors were narrow and windy, but given we were in the oldest part of the hotel, just added to the cosy ambience.

Whilst the room itself was beautifully done and full of little touches that stood out (robes, Elemis gels and lotions, slippers, water and fruit), the bed stole the show. It was the most comfortable thing I have ever slept on with huge fluffy pillows and a lovely view of the Ochil hills.

A soak in the rainfall shower (with sound system) and a full Scottish breakfast saw me right. There cold buffet was impressive too with pastries, cereal, ham and cheese, yoghurts and loads of gluten free options.

Again when we dragged ourselves away from the hotel, the sun was shining. It lit up the building so beautifully I forgot I hadn't quite appreciated its beauty the day before. For dining-only options it is incredibly popular. The ambience in the restaurant was lovely as a huge variety of both local guests and tourists mingled.

The menu is fantastic and staff so friendly that it is clear why it is so in demand. However, if you can grab a table and treat yourself to an overnight stay, the MacDonald Inchyra will more than set you up for the week ahead.

With thanks to the MacDonald Inchyra and Crimson Fox for an overnight stay for two, access to the tribute night with dinner and drinks and breakfast. Whilst the experience was gifted, the views are very much my own.
