Fancy a Better Broadband Deal?

I get it. We're all busy. We take out a broadband deal, electricity deal, TV deal and either forget to switch or just can't be bothered with the hassle. Whilst you might think it doesn't matter all that much if you invest some time to save some pennies, it all adds up. I have to be honest - I was one of those people. The thought of bartering with companies made me feel ill. But recently, there has been a change.

The rise in popularity of comparison sites recently has put the issue in the spotlight. In some cases, people have been losing hundreds of pounds by not shopping around for the best supplier. I was incredibly guilty of spending more just to save time and effort.

That was until we got engaged and really had to start looking at where our money was going. The most important thing to us is that we get the best value for money - we don't need anything fancy.

That is where comparison sites are so handy. It means that providers need to be transparent in their offerings. We sat down together and realised that if we changed suppliers for every deal we had, we would save about £280 a year but still keep the same service. That is mad.

The other brilliant thing is that the comparison sites make it quick, easy and accurate to find what you need. Cable, for example, allows you to search broadband deals by the average speed you need, your ideal cost, contract length, add ons... all that time you thought you would be spending? You don't.

To save even more time, here is a tip. The most important thing when exploring a good broadband deal is the speed.

What Broadband Speed Do I Need?

It can be pretty difficult these to days to determine what is a good internet speed. You are used to the buffering. You didn't know life online could be quicker. A lot quicker.

Megabits don't mean much to people, so before exploring the broadband deal you think you need, it is best to check what is a good internet speed for you. If there is one - two of you but one of you is a super keen gamer, you need some form of fibre. Looking for your Mum and Dad? 1Mb download will probably be fine. But you are not expected to know all this information. Find a broadband deal comparison site that helps you figure it all out.

Even better, you can see any offers you can claim from switching. You will have heard me raving this year about how easy it is to save and make money from being savvy. £130 for switching to BT my lovelies? Grab it while you can (if it works for you).

This is the first month that Phil and I will start to see some of the benefit of our lowered prices but it is a bit addictive. We have a shiny new broadband deal, two new mobile phones and over £130 in vouchers to use. Saving money is fun! Whilst I never become a coupon lady, making sure we have the best deals for all our essentials is an easy, no brainer way to get extra cash at the end of the month.

Stay tuned for more tips on how to save and make things last a bit longer.

In the meantime, fancy a spring clean?
