Rogue Village Review

If you haven't heard of the Rogue Village by now, then get involved as you are missing out. Phil and I were lucky enough to attend their Steet Food Canteen which popped up at Port Edgar Marina over the weekend. Stalwarts of Pitt Street, we love a good celebration of food and although arrived a bit too early on Sunday still had an amazing time.

The event held last weekend, showcased the very best in street food seasoned experts from all over Scotland, including Herringbone, Mimi's Bakehouse, Chick and Pea and Poco Prosecco. Rogue Village is typically situated in the Archerfield Walled Garden and has a firm fanbase that will have followed them on tour.

Whilst we waited for an acceptable time to start eating (10.30am), we strolled around the Marina and visited some of the luxurious shops. Shapes, a high end furniture store, and the Boson's Locker which sells Dubarry and Joules brands to name but a few were fantastic and offering discounts for the weekend. The watersports on offer had attracted loads of families and the atmosphere was electric as people buzzed between the food and activities.

When we could wait no longer (10.29am) we headed to Chick and Pea and between us had two halloumi burgers and fries - utterly divine. Unlike other street food festivals we have been too, we were surrounded by plenty space, seating, fresh air and sunshine (not a given).

The event was tinged with sadness however, as the body of incredible singer Scott Hutchinson was found metres away. His fitting tribute served as a reminder that we should enjoy each day as it comes and be thankful for friends and family.

In his memory, the event raised nearly £4,000 for SAMH and you can make a donation, however small, here. It is memories and days like this that matter and we will continue to attend as many as we can.

This will not be the last event at Port Edgar Marina, and with the stunning Scott's restaurant due to open towards the end of the year, I am sure it will be set to grow in size and popularity.
