Bowhouse Food Weekend: 22nd and 23rd July
Updated: Dec 30, 2019
If, like me, you are a little bit obsessed with food and drink then I have good news. There is a new food festival kid on the block and the best bit is it's free! The Bowhouse Food Weekend, running on the 22nd and 23rd of July, will celebrate the finest producers from all over Scotland.
Situated an hour and a half from Edinburgh, in a picturesque barn in St Monans, Fife, the support behind the inaugural festival is impressive.
Current exhibitors appearing at the Bowhouse Food Weekend include Langoustine the Box who will be showcasing their shellfish sourced fresh from the waters of Fife. Also in attendance are the SRUC, Food from Fife, St Andrew's based restaurant Forgan's who will be supplying a ceilidh and much, much more. My personal favourite will be Poco Prosecco who supply their delicious fizz from their quaint Italian van. Also make sure you take a wee visit to Dundee Gin, Arbroath Smokies, Dundee Cheesecakes, Cheesy Toast Shack (sorry, this sounds incredible!), Good Life Veal Company and the Crepe Shack (holy yum!).
Beyond simply offering polished stands with the finished produce, the aim of the Bowhouse Food Weekend event is designed to give consumers a clearer understanding of the food-creation process.
Toby Anstruther, founding member of Food from Fife adds, “Bowhouse is a place for making food by transforming the raw ingredients from the East Neuk’s farms and waters into exquisite finished products ready for the eager customer. This new initiative aims to replace a missing link in the food chain from farmer to consumer by providing dedicated space for producers as well as a large, covered market where food makers and growers can showcase their produce. It will be a collaborative, creative space where connections are made and businesses and consumers can share their passion for fine food.”
